I realize I haven't posted on this site for a while, but Webs.com's limitations and difficulties have seriously caused me to reconsider keeping this website going. However, I've recently started using Blogger.com for my personal website and have really become attached to it. This has pushed me to my decision to move KoRn Nuze over to Blogger.com. This change will occur within the next month, which up until this time, updates will be done STRICTLY ON FACEBOOK. I will not be updating the site until the change is made.

Also, I will be looking for news posters on the new website. If you are interested, inbox me at kornnuze999@gmail.com!

Luzier: Bring back the power of the groove

Posted by Syman on January 20, 2011 at 4:14 AM Comments comments (0)

California Chronicle has recently posted an article with Ray Luzier, here's a snippet:

The 40-year-old Pennsylvania native, who started his professional career as a drummer for David Lee Roth from 1997 to 2005, began touring with Korn in 2007. Original drummer David Silveria left in 2006. The band hired several replacements afterward, including Joey Jordison of Slipknot. Luzier said his chemistry with the band was immediate.

"I had a lot of respect for the original drummer. But what I felt was lacking in the band was the power and heaviness," Luzier said. "I'm not one of those guys who sit there and play with a waiting-for-the-bus look on my face. I'm definitely an animated player. I want to give the people a show. There are not a lot of love ballads in our band. That's what I wanted to bring back: the power of the groove."

Luzier said Korn fans are some of the most devoted he's seen. "I'm probably the most observant of the crowd, because I'm sitting up on a high riser. So I get a great view. It's crazy, 'cause you see young teens out there to folks in their 40s. It's hard for any band that's been together for 18 years to keep that going. I've seen fans with tattoos of Jonathan's face on their back and the album covers on their legs."

As the group criss-crosses the United States promoting "Korn III," Luzier said, the guys already are working on riffs and shaping songs for a new album. The L.A.-based band will probably head back into the studio in the fall.

Although he's a fresh face in the group, Luzier said he feels as if he's been around from the start.

"I've always been a fan, but doing the new record, I felt like I've always been there," Luzier said. "Me and the guys have a lot of similarities, although I didn't win three Grammys and sell over 30 million records."

Fieldy speaks about new tour and songs

Posted by Syman on January 14, 2011 at 5:57 AM Comments comments (0)

Cityview has posted a new article featuring Fieldy. It covers information on the new tour and also about new KoRn demo's that KoRn have written. Here's a snippet:

Seventeen years later, with more than 38 million album sales and two Grammy Awards to their credit, Korn continues to hammer away at its pioneering nu metal sound with the kind of enthusiasm that catapulted them from the clubs of Bakersfield, Calif., in 1993 to mainstream America with breakthrough records like “Follow the Leader,” “Issues” and “Untouchables.”

When the “Monster Energy Music As A Weapon 5 Tour” plays Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on Saturday, Jan. 15, it will mark the second show on the first-ever tour for Korn in which the band will share headlining duties with its friends Disturbed. The idea for the 45-city tour of medium-sized markets in North America came about when frontmen Jonathan Davis of Korn and David Draiman of Disturbed decided to bring their bands’ music to loyal fans who don’t live in major markets.

“I really like coming to places like Des Moines, places that don’t get a lot of concerts,” said Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu, bassist and founding member of Korn. “Those shows are usually a little more wild.”

...

But the longtime bassist warns fans not to expect a similar follow-up album. Instead, he said, be prepared for something entirely different, judging by the demos Korn recently recorded.

“It’s so exciting and new that I’ve never been this excited about anything we’ve ever done. I can’t believe it,” he said. “Just when you think, ‘We’re done now,’ we come up with the heaviest, coolest new style of Korn today. I’ve probably played it for 30 people and every one of them flipped out, and I’ve never gotten a response like that. I can’t wait to see what the world thinks of the next Korn record.”

Jonathan Davis speaking of earlier days

Posted by Syman on January 14, 2011 at 5:51 AM Comments comments (0)

Pantagraph.com has posted an interview/article with Jonathan Davis. Here's a snippet the article:

Even the gods of rock are not immune from the mortal ailments that afflict the rest of us.

Witness the bout of flu that has waylaid, but not silenced, the driving vocal force behind Korn, co-headlining the Twin Cities' first big rock show of the new year.

In fact, the Friday concert is also the first big show of Korn's first big 2011 touring assault, the Monster Energy Music As a Weapon 5 Tour, kicking off a winter-long jaunt at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum, alongside co-headliner Disturbed (rounding out the chock-full bill are openers Sevendust and In This Moment).

Korn's lead singer, Jonathan Davis, is ensconced back home in his sunny Southern California home turf.

"I'm thinking I'm glad I got it this week instead of next," says Davis in a weakened but still-lively voice, one famous for putting the needs of Korn's fans above most other issues.

Nevertheless, "It sucks. I hate it."

Davis says the past illnesses that have led to shows being scrapped are among the worst experiences of his 17-year performing career, including a bout with a potentially life-threatening blood platelet disorder four years ago.

Bottom line: "If I've got my voice, no matter how sick I get," he says, "I'll still play. I feel like a total (bleep) disappointing kids who've waited so long and paid so much money."

He's done it before, he'll do it again. "Thank god I know my limits," he adds.

David Draiman talks First Korn Experience

Posted by Syman on January 3, 2011 at 10:53 PM Comments comments (0)

ARTISTdirect.com has posted an interview online with David Draiman of Disturbed. Disturbed is currently co-headlining "Music As A Weapon" with KoRn. Here's a snippet:

It's a reunion for you and Korn since the Pop Sux Tour in 2002?

We've also done an OZZfest together; we're old friends. There's a huge amount of mutual respect and admiration. Jonathan is an influence of mine and a source of inspiration as vocalist. Hell, when that first Korn record came out, it was one of the reasons that I felt compelled to delve into the world of metal again. They're a huge source of inspiration, and we couldn't be more honored to be sharing the stage with them. There's a great camaraderie between us.

Do you remember the first time you heard Korn?

Actually, I do! I went to go see them at The Cabaret Metro in Chicago. Now, they just call it The Metro. This was way back in the day. I hadn't heard any of the record, and my roommate at the time was on my ass trying to get me to go to this show with him. I was like, "Oh, who's this band? I've never heard of them." He said, "Trust me. This is something you'll want to see," and I was completely blown away. Their uniqueness, intensity, rhythm, and everything about them just knocked me off my feet.

Do you feel like their evolution has mirrored yours? You've always maintained that raw groove while continuing to experiment and push what you're capable of further.

I agree. We definitely hold true to our rhythmic sensibilities. There's no question. It's always very important to do. Never forget where you came from, and never forget what drives you as a band. Expand the palette, but never betray what you've been identified for.

More 'Music As A Weapon' tour updates!

Posted by Syman on November 23, 2010 at 4:57 AM Comments comments (0)

In what promises to be the hottest tour of winter 2011, KORN and DISTURBED, two of rock's biggest acts, are teaming up to co-headline next year's "Monster Energy Music As A Weapon V" tour. Support on the trek will come from SEVENDUST and IN THIS MOMENT.

Jonathan Davis of KORN and David Draiman of DISTURBED commented on how the 45-city trek across America came about.

"We've both just finished great tours," said Davis. "We headlined Mayhem and DISTURBED headlined Uproar. The DISTURBED guys came out to see us play in Chicago and we got to talking about doing something together. We both agreed that as cool as those types of tours are, they usually only hit major markets, and we both agreed that a lot of our fans just don't live in those cities, etc so we thought it would be cool to team up, put a big show together, and hit every great place that those big tours never get to. Besides all that, with us and DISTURBED together, doing full shows with full production...all I can say is IT'S ON!"

"We are thrilled to launch the 'Monster Energy Music As A Weapon V' tour with our good friends from KORN," said Draiman. "Every year we try to up the ante, and this year, by having KORN co-headline, we really think it's going to be our best tour yet. When the idea first came up, one of the main things both bands agreed upon and wanted to focus on was hitting a lot of smaller markets. It’s exciting to bring a show like this to cities that are usually skipped over on some of the other larger rock tours that only hit the major markets. We have a lot of loyal fans in these cities and we wanted to bring them a show that they deserve."

Tickets for the first leg of the tour are set to go on sale the weekend of November 20. The bands have decided that the first 1000 tickets from each show will be sold at a $5 discount during the on sale weekend in order to reward the early buyers and fans.

"A lot of promoters only offer discounted tickets a day or two before the actual show date," said DISTURBED guitarist Dan Donegan. "We wanted to do something for the fans that are buying their tickets as soon as they go on sale. To offer a discount upfront made the most sense to us."

"We're tired of promoters offering discounted tickets to last minute folks in order to sell the seats in the back of the gig. We'd rather give our fans a discount for buying early," said KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer.

The cities for the first leg of the tour are listed below. More tour markets to be announced soon.

* Bloomington, IL

* Des Moines, IA

* Rockford, IL

* Hershey, PA

* Rochester, NY

* West Long Branch, NJ

An end to the rumors?

Posted by Syman on November 14, 2010 at 10:43 PM Comments comments (1)

The lineup of DISTURBED's fifth "Music As A Weapon" tour will reportedly be announced this week, possibly as soon as Monday (November 15). Frontman David Draiman hinted in a recent interview that the trek's co-headliner will be "massive," with KORN strongly rumored for that slot. "It's going to be appearing in a union that I think hard rock and heavy metal fans have been wanting to happen for awhile," Draiman said. "It has happened before, but only in brief stints. Now it's gonna happen for the duration of a two-leg-long tour. And we're gonna join forces with a leviathan. And we're really looking forward to it."

We at KoRn Nuze have also reported that 2Cents and Sevendust are also strongly rumored to be joining this Trek. Stay tuned this week for confirmation!

Fan-filmed video footage of former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch bleeding from the head after he apparently accidentally banged it on the mic stand during his band's October 30 performance at the South Western College in Phoenix, Arizona can be viewed below. He plays some-what of a KoRn medley and then plays Blind.
